Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport (IXB), you will be warmly received by the HolidayMantra team. Board your vehicle for a scenic drive along the Teesta River towards Gangtok (5,412 ft / 130 km / 4–5 hrs drive). Check into your 3-star deluxe hotel upon arrival, enjoy a welcome meal, and spend the rest of the evening relaxing. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2

Changu Lake (12400Ft / 3780 Mts / 43 Kms / 02 Hrs Drive one way) & New Baba Mandir (13100 Ft / 3994 Mts / 18 Kms / 01 Hrs further drive from Changu Lake) .

  Today after breakfast, start for full day excursion to Changu Lake & New Baba Mandir. Return back to Gangtok. Overnight at hotel.

  1. Documents for Changu Lake & New Baba Mandir & Nathula Pass – 02 Passport Size Photo along with Photo Copy of Photo ID Proof (Passport or Driving License or Voter ID (Pan Card &Adhaar Card is not accepted). For Children below 18 years, Date of Birth certificate written in English is mandatory along with School Id / College Id as supporting document. Original to be brought with self while travelling.
  2. Incase visit to Tshangu Lake is not possible, due to landslide or any other unforeseen reasons, alternative sightseeing will be provide.
  3. Process for Foreigner, OCI & PIO Card holder are completely different, kindly inform us well in advance to plan out the itinerary accordingly.

  1. Nathula Pass (14137 Ft / 4310 Mts) Indo China Border (remains closed on Monday for tourist), visit is limited to Indian nationals only, allowed on the basis of advance permit & on extra cost. For rate, kindly refer to Supplement & Optional Cost Column, given below the main package cost.

Day 3

Gangtok (5412 Ft / 1650 Mts)

 Today after breakfast, go for a full day sightseeing of Gangtok covering Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, Enchy Monastery, Bakthang Water Falls, Do-rul Chorten, Research Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Saturday & Sunday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays), Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (Closed on Saturday & Sunday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays) Flower Show (Closed on Saturday & Sunday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays). Back to hotel & overnight at hotel.

Note:

  1. Alternative sightseeing of Bakthang Waterfalls & Ropeway (If operational, ticket on direct payment basis) will be provided incase of Research Institute of Tibetology & Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom is closed.

Day 4

Following breakfast, check out of your Gangtok hotel and proceed toward the “Queen of the Hills,” Darjeeling (6,710 ft / 110 km / 4–5 hrs drive). En route, take in the changing landscapes of tea gardens and rolling pine forests. (Optional: Experience white-water rafting on the Teesta River at Melli). Upon reaching Darjeeling, check into your 3-star deluxe hotel. Enjoy an evening walk along Mall Road or relax at the hotel. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 5

Darjeeling (6710 Ft / 2046 Mts)

 Early morning at around 0400am (subject to clear weather) for visit to Tiger Hills (8482 Ft / 2586 Mts) to view the sunrise over mighty Kanchendzonga Peak (Third highest peak in the world) Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. Back to hotel for breakfast.

 After breakfast go for a half-day sightseeing of local Darjeeling covering Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park & Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays), Tenzing & Gombu Rock and Panoramic tour of Tea Estate.

 Back to Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

  1. Tiger Hill visit is subjected to availability of coupons, as only 600 vehicles are allowed in the morning. In case of non availability of coupons we will provide the Tiger Hill visit after breakfast.

Day 6

New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) (413 Ft / 126 Mts, 100 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs drive)

 After breakfast transfer to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB), for onwards connection drive via *Pashupati Nagar visit (Indo-Nepal border) for shopping & 

Mirik Lake (4905 Ft / 1495Mts, Horse riding & Boat is available in & around the lake on direct payment basis). Pashupati Nagar visit (Indo-Nepal border) for shopping, our vehicle will stop at the Indian side of the boarder & the guest will have to walk to the Nepalese side of the border, where they can easily hire a local taxi which will cost INR 400 to 500 one way to drop the guest at Market. The guest can also easily walk to reach the market which is just 2 Kms from the boarder gate.

Important Notes for Gangtok & Darjeeling Group Travelers

1. Permit Documentation & ID Requirements
  • Restricted Area Permits: Carrying valid original IDs (Voter ID or Passport) is compulsory. Local state IDs, PAN Cards, and Aadhaar Cards are strictly invalid for restricted border zone permits in Sikkim.

  • Photo Submissions: Every traveler must submit 5 physical passport-size photographs along with clear ID photocopies upon arrival.

2. Hotel & Accommodation Policies
  • Check-In/Check-Out Times: Standard hotel check-in time across hill stations is 12:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM.

  • Hill Hotel Amenities: Hotel services in high-altitude regions operate subject to local mountain infrastructure. Star ratings reflect local hill-station hospitality standards.

3. Mountain Transport & Transit Logistics
  • Point-to-Point Vehicle Usage: Vehicles in Sikkim and Darjeeling operate strictly on a point-to-point itinerary basis and are not at full-day disposal.

  • AC Operation: Air conditioning in vehicles is operated only while plying in plain areas (like Siliguri). AC is strictly switched off during uphill mountain drives for driver safety and vehicle performance.

  • Unforeseen Diversions: In the event of landslides, political strikes, or weather-induced route alterations, extra travel costs or vehicle charges must be cleared directly with the driver in cash.

4. Altitude & Medical Guidelines
  • High-Altitude Travel: Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir are situated above 12,000 ft. Travelers with cardiovascular issues or severe respiratory conditions should consult a medical professional prior to travel.

  • First-Aid & Medication: Travelers should carry basic personal medications for motion sickness and high-altitude acclimation.

5. Booking & Cancellation Terms
  • Payment Schedule: Booking is confirmed upon receipt of a 60% advance payment. The remaining 40% balance must be settled at least 10 days prior to the arrival date or upon arrival in cash/online.

  • Cancellation Rules: Cancellations made 30-15 days prior to arrival attract a 25% charge; 15-7 days attract a 50% charge; and under 7 days incur a 100% cancellation fee.

FAQs

What identity documents are mandatory for Sikkim permits (Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir)?
Adults must carry original Voter Cards or Passports along with 5 Xerox copies and 5 passport-size photos. Aadhaar Cards and PAN Cards are NOT accepted for Sikkim restricted area permits. For minors below 18 years, a Birth Certificate in English and a School/College ID are mandatory.
For inter-city transfers and long-distance excursions, 7 spacious Sumo/Bolero vehicles are provided. For local Gangtok city sightseeing, 13 small cabs (WagonR / Dzire) are allotted to ensure easy navigation through hill city roads.
