NOTES & IMPORTANT INFO FOR TRAVELERS:
1. Connectivity (The Most Important Rule):
Prepaid SIM Cards from other Indian states do not work in Jammu & Kashmir due to security regulations.
Only Postpaid SIM cards (Jio, Airtel, BSNL) work seamlessly. If you have a prepaid connection, we recommend converting it to postpaid before your trip or purchasing a local “Tourist SIM” at Srinagar Airport.
2. Local Taxi Union Rules:
Kashmir has a strict Taxi Union system. Our private vehicle is authorized for all transfers and inter-city travel ( Srinagar to Pahalgam).
However, for internal sightseeing in Pahalgam (Aru, Betaab, Chandanwari) and Sonmarg (Zero Point/Glacier), you must hire a local Union Taxi. This is a local law, and we will assist you in coordinating these bookings.
3. Gondola & Entry Tickets:
Gulmarg Gondola tickets are high in demand and often sell out weeks in advance. We strictly recommend booking them online via the official website as soon as your dates are fixed.
Entry fees for Mughal Gardens (approx. ₹20–₹50) and monuments are to be paid directly in cash at the gate.
4. Cash is King:
While UPI and cards are accepted in Srinagar, network issues can make digital payments unreliable in remote areas like Gulmarg or Sonmarg. Always carry sufficient physical cash for small purchases, pony rides, and local tips.
5. Photography & Conduct:
Kashmir is a high-security zone. Photography of military installations, bridges, and the airport is strictly prohibited and can lead to legal issues.
Please respect local traditions by dressing modestly when visiting religious sites like the Shankaracharya Temple or Hazratbal Shrine.
6. Health & Altitude:
Srinagar is at 5,200 ft, but Gulmarg/Sonmarg can exceed 9,000 ft. If you have a history of heart or lung issues, please consult a doctor. Stay hydrated and carry basic medicines for motion sickness, acidity, and headaches.
