Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Cochin

Your Scenic Kerala tour begins on arrival at Cochin International Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station, where our representative will assist you with a private transfer to your hotel. After check-in, relax for a while after your journey.

Later, proceed for sightseeing in Cochin, one of Kerala’s most historic port cities and a key stop on many Kerala Tour Packages. Visit Fort Kochi, known for its colonial streets and seaside charm. Explore the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets, followed by visits to the Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church, and the Jewish Synagogue in Mattancherry. These landmarks reflect Portuguese, Dutch and British influences that shaped Kochi’s identity.

Return to your hotel by evening.

Overnight stay in Cochin.

Day 2

After breakfast, check out and drive to Munnar, Kerala’s most famous hill station. The scenic drive winds through rubber plantations, spice gardens, waterfalls and forested slopes of the Western Ghats.

As you gain altitude, the air becomes cooler, and views open up to mist-covered valleys and tea-covered hills. Short refreshment stops may be taken en route for comfort. Upon arrival in Munnar, check into your hotel and relax.

The rest of the day is free at leisure. You may take a short walk near the hotel or enjoy views of the tea gardens and the surrounding hills.

Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 3

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Munnar, a highlight of most Hill Station Tours in Kerala. Begin with a visit to Eravikulam National Park (subject to opening), home to rolling grasslands and the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The park also offers panoramic views of Munnar’s mountain ranges.

Continue to Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Lake, both surrounded by forested slopes and misty hills. Stop at Echo Point, where natural acoustics create a fun echo phenomenon across the valley. Drive past expansive tea estates that define Munnar’s landscape.

If time permits, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history and processing of tea plantations in the region. Return to your hotel by evening.

Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 4

After breakfast, check out and drive to Thekkady, located near the renowned Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The journey descends from Munnar’s tea-covered hills into dense forests and spice-growing regions.

On arrival, check into your hotel and relax. Later, you may opt to visit a spice plantation (optional, at extra cost), where guided walks introduce you to cardamom, pepper, cinnamon and other spices that made Kerala famous worldwide.

In the evening, you may choose to attend a Kathakali dance or Kalaripayattu martial art performance (optional, at extra cost), offering insight into Kerala’s classical art forms.

Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day 5

After breakfast, check out and drive towards Kumarakom, a tranquil village set along Vembanad Lake. The landscape gradually shifts from forested hills to lush paddy fields, canals and coconut groves.

On arrival, check into your resort and relax amid the serene backwater surroundings. Later, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, an important stop on many Kerala Backwater Tours. The sanctuary is known for migratory birds, waterfowl and rich wetland vegetation.

Return to your resort and enjoy a peaceful evening by the lake.

Overnight stay in Kumarakom.

Day 6

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Alleppey, the heart of Kerala’s backwaters. On arrival, board your traditional Kerala houseboat (kettuvallam).

Begin a leisurely cruise through narrow canals, village waterways and open stretches of Vembanad Lake. Watch daily village life unfold along the banks—fishermen casting nets, children playing near canals, and coconut groves lining the water.

Lunch is freshly prepared onboard, featuring Kerala-style cuisine. By evening, the houseboat anchors in a quiet backwater stretch. Enjoy sunset views followed by dinner served onboard.

Overnight stay on the houseboat in Alleppey, a signature experience of Kerala Houseboat Tours.

Day 7

(Approx. 160 km / 4–5 hours)

After an early breakfast onboard the houseboat, disembark at the Alleppey jetty and begin your scenic drive south towards Kovalam, Kerala’s most well-known beach destination. The journey offers a noticeable shift in landscape—from palm-lined canals and paddy fields of the backwaters to coastal highways dotted with fishing villages, coconut groves and glimpses of the Arabian Sea.

En route, you pass through small towns and stretches of Kerala’s coastal countryside, offering a quiet look at everyday life away from tourist centres. Short refreshment stops can be taken along the way, depending on comfort and traffic conditions.

On arrival in Kovalam, check into your beachside hotel and relax after the long drive. The rest of the day is kept completely free to unwind at your own pace. You may choose to spend time at Lighthouse Beach, known for its red-and-white striped lighthouse and gentle waves, or visit Hawa Beach and Samudra Beach, both ideal for relaxed walks and sea views.

As evening approaches, enjoy the coastal sunset, the sound of waves, and the laid-back beach atmosphere that makes Kovalam a favourite among leisure travellers.

Overnight stay in Kovalam.

Day 8

After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), the capital city of Kerala and a centre of art, history and governance. The short drive connects Kovalam’s relaxed beach environment with the cultural heart of the state.

Begin your sightseeing with a visit to the renowned Padmanabhaswamy Temple (subject to entry rules and dress code). Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple is an architectural landmark and one of the most significant religious sites in South India. Entry policies vary, and visitors are advised to follow temple guidelines strictly.

Continue to the Napier Museum, an Indo-Saracenic structure known for its natural ventilation system and eclectic collection of archaeological and historical artefacts. Nearby, explore the Sri Chitra Art Gallery, which houses an impressive collection of paintings, including works by Raja Ravi Varma and traditional Tanjore and Mughal art.

Later, you can visit Kuthiramalika Palace, a wooden palace built by the Travancore royal family, famous for its intricately carved architecture and sloping roofs. The palace offers insight into Kerala’s royal heritage and traditional craftsmanship.

After completing the sightseeing, drive back to Kovalam by evening. The rest of the evening is free—relax at your hotel, take a quiet beach walk, or simply enjoy the coastal breeze after a culturally rich day.

Overnight stay in Kovalam.

Day 9
